Position: Buyer Intern
Description:
Hog Slat Inc., the world’s largest provider of equipment and turnkey facilities to the swine industry, is seeking qualified candidates to join our Purchasing team for the summer of 2024. Interns will spend 12 weeks working with members of our purchasing division learning day-to-day operations and cultivating professional and personal growth through one-on-one mentoring sessions.
Hours: 40 hours/week with some additional travel time probable.
Locations: Newton Grove, NC and Clinton, NC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
- Participate in the sourcing of suppliers, maintaining supplier base and serve as a liaison between suppliers and company.
- Assist in providing help, solutions, documents and instructions to suppliers.
- Assist in the negotiation of purchase agreements.
- Participate in the oversite of expedited or delayed deliveries of raw materials and finished goods as required to support customer and/or manufacturing requirements.
- Work with all appropriate parties to resolve any supply issue or material quality discrepancy.
- Assist in the collaborations with engineering team to source products, services, prototypes and samples to assist in new product development and re-design of existing products.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience/educational characteristics:
- At least a sophomore standing at an accredited 4-year university
- Agricultural background desired, but not necessary
- Sufficient organizational skills to prioritize, schedule, plan, coordinate, implement and follow-up assigned projects
- Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrate negotiation and problem solving skills
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Applications and CAD Software strongly preferred
