Position: Distribution Center Internship
Description:
Hog Slat Inc., the world’s largest provider of equipment and turnkey facilities to the swine industry, is seeking qualified candidates to join our Distribution Center Team for the summer of 2025. Interns will spend 12 weeks working with various departments within our distribution center learning day-to-day operations and cultivating professional and personal growth through specialized projects.
Hours: 40 hours/week with some additional travel time probable; must have reliable transportation.
Location: Clinton, NC
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with department supervisors to develop an understanding of how Hog Slat’s distribution supply chain works
- Carry out process improvement initiatives by analyzing and assisting in the new warehouse management system implementation
- Assist in the tracking of inventory management by assisting in cycle counts and the auditing of employees
- Assist in the consolidation and refinement of slow-moving inventory
- Provide new ideas and recommend solutions for enhancing business operations
- Complete assigned summer projects by working with leaders in the distribution center department as well as other departments as necessary.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience/educational characteristics:
- At least a sophomore standing at an accredited 4-year university
- Sufficient organizational skills to prioritize, schedule, plan, coordinate, implement and follow-up assigned projects
- Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrate negotiation and problem solving skills
- A strong commitment to the safe and humane treatment of animals using approved handling techniques is required
