As a Food & Beverage (F&B) intern at Bay Harbor Yacht Club (BHYC), you’ll learn how high-end dining and hospitality work. You’ll help with daily service and big events, building skills in customer service, restaurant operations, and teamwork. You’ll learn to manage inventory and work with luxury guests. This role also gives you a chance to develop leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills while working alongside experienced F&B staff. You’ll also have opportunities for networking, mentorship, and hands-on experience, making this a great step toward a career in hospitality. This full-time internship lasts from May through August 2025.

Bay Harbor Yacht Club, located near Petoskey, MI, offers amazing views and top-quality service for guests and members year-round. BHYC has several restaurants, outdoor activities, and large event spaces, all by the Bay Harbor marina. We recently completed a major renovation, adding new dining options, a Grille Room, a Fitness Center, an Aquatics Center, and a Spa.

Job Duties:

  • Greet and serve members and guests
  • Learn our food, drink, and wine menus
  • Get to know members’ names and preferences
  • Keep dining areas clean and organized
  • Help manage servers during meal shifts
  • Track and record inventory for all dining areas
  • Help with food and drink service at events
  • Support other departments as needed
  • Check in with members during meals to make sure they’re happy
  • Solve any issues for members and follow up to make sure they’re resolved
  • Work with the kitchen to keep food service running smoothly
  • Stay on the dining floor to ensure quality service
  • Update and create processes to improve service
  • Communicate with vendors about product shipments when needed

Requirements:

  • At least 6 months of experience in food, drink, or similar work preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred
  • Experience with POS systems is helpful

  • Basic knowledge of wines and drinks

Work Environment:

  • Work both indoors and outdoors, with temperatures from 32Β°F to 100Β°F
  • Regular schedule of 40 hours per week, including holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
