We’re looking for a Learning Designer to be a key curriculum developer, researching to create sophisticated educational content for our programs, including trips, fellowships, events, and leadership programs. This role includes some facilitation, with a primary emphasis on program design.

What will you do as a Learning Designer?

  • Design compelling and engaging educational content employing best practices in experiential education to engage young adults in global Jewish causes.
  • Create content for intimate and large-scale events that educate and inspire college students and young professionals in their 20s and 30s to connect with global Jewry.
  • Design trainings and retreats that develop leaders for the Jewish world.
  • Design and implement dynamic, immersive asynchronous learning experiences (e.g., do-it-yourself education modules, games, podcasts, articles, etc.) to engage young adults in global Jewish causes.
  • Train staff and lay leaders to effectively facilitate educational content and modules.
  • Manage the integration of curricula and coach staff on the implementation of program models across Entwine’s program areas
  • Required to staff 1-2 Global Insider Trips per year and attend 1-2 leadership retreats per year.
  • Be a JDC Entwine expert
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of JDC’s global programs
  • Represent Entwine at gatherings, conferences, and other public venues as needed.

What qualifications are required to be our Learning Designer?

  • Expertise in experience design, experiential learning, and/or UX learning
  • Knowledge on relevant issues and trends in the young adult space
  • Training/facilitation skills, including coaching skills
  • Feedback skills, both in ability to give constructive and positive feedback, and to receive feedback
  • Forward-thinking and strategic outlook, critical thinking skills
  • Creative problem solver
  • Outstanding writing skills, particularly in the area of content creation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team oriented, ability to work independently and collaboratively on program creation
  • Process-oriented, deliberate
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally
  • Ability to read words and numbers
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate in person or over the telephone

Additional Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in blended learning or digital learning
  • Experience in creating immersive experiences (e.g. training or experience with design thinking, museum education, camp programming, field education, service learning, learning through cultural exchange, etc.)
  • Experience in developing educational event programming
  • Experience with integrating principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) into learning design
  • Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred

Additional Details

  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45PM with a 1-hour lunch break
  • Location: Hybrid from New York, NY in office Tuesdays and Thursdays, or remotely based in any other state in which JDC currently has staff: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, MN, NE, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA, and Washington, DC.
  • Reports to: Director of Program Design and Jewish Learning

  • Other: Travel approx. 5% of the time nationally and internationally (2-4 times/year)

What are the compensation and benefits for a Learning Designer?

This is a full time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $75,000-$85,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is exempt per the FLSA.
