POSITION SUMMARY:


This positionΒ  will be highly skilled at sales and guest services, supports the daily operation of the Tasting Room and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of our products and programs. Works as a member of the team with effective team leadership while providing guests with positive, memorable experiences and the highest level of customer service while working with clients.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:


This position will work closely with the Manager to provide tasting room staff with guidance and leadership while also being the voice of the front-line team, vocalizing potential concerns when necessary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Greet all visitors and pour wines for tasting




  • Point of contact in Manager's absence




  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, lead by example




  • Motivate team to meet and exceed goals




  • Maintain a clear and open communication with the Tasting Room Manager




  • Review reports and analyze data capture as needed




  • Responding to all emails and voicemails in a timely manner




  • Create a memorable experience for guests




  • Sell wine and wine club memberships based on monthly goal




  • Correctly relay the family, winery, and the winery's history




  • Able to conduct tours and tastings at all levels, including leading tours up to 30 guests and conducting seated wine tastings




  • Describe wines and winery history; answer visitors’ questions about wines




  • Provide general tourist information




  • Handle routine sales transactions that include operating the register and accounting of daily sales




  • Update and modifications to tasting menus when required




  • Prepare food for wine pairings when necessary




  • Notify Manager of maintenance issues and upkeep in tasting room




  • Assist with special events as needed




  • Represent winery at outside functions as needed




  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and its wines




  • Understand and properly process winery specific order requests




  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager




REQUIRED SKILLS:




  • Excellent verbal communication skills




  • Excellent presentation skills




  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills




  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow




  • Proficient on the computer (familiar with POS systems, Microsoft Office)




  • Excellent customer service skills




  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages




  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions




QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Wine related experience helpful and knowledge of wines and wine production




  • 3+ years' experience in a sales and hospitality environment




  • TIPS and CA Food Handler Certifications preferred, but not required




  • Professional appearance and demeanor




  • Commitment to excellence and high standards




  • Evidence of superior sales performance preferred

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age




  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly




  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods as required by job duties




  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a regular basis




  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously




SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:




  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays




COMPENSATION:




  • Competitive hourly rate and tips




  • Individual commission on wine club sign-ups and achieving sales goals




SALARY RANGE: $22 - 25/Hour DOE


Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location within the US. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, internal equity and alignment with market data.
