Job Summary

Carneros Resort and Spa is seeking a Tasting Room and Lounge Sales Associate who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, promoting our wines, and building lasting relationships. ThisΒ  position requires weekend availability and participation in both onsite and offsite events. Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in wine, sales, hospitality, or a related field preferred; a willingness to learn and sell.Β 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.Β 
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification, MAST Class 12 permit, and Food Handlers Card (must comply with State regulations).Β 
  • Excellent communication and sales skills.Β 
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using a web-based POS system.Β 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and stand for long periods.Β 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.Β 
  • Passion for wine and people, with a drive to sell, grow, and improve.Β 
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Β 

Guest ExperienceΒ 

  • Greet all visitors with enthusiasm and professionalism.Β 
  • Lead guests through unique and personalized wine tasting experiences, educating them about our winery, wines, cider, and spirits.Β 
  • Ensure a fun, memorable, and educational customer experience.Β 
  • Develop and build long-lasting relationships with guests to convert them into repeat customers.Β Β 

Sales and PromotionΒ 

  • Effectively suggest and sell wine, cider, and spirits, with the ability to β€œup-sell.” 
  • Execute direct sales to customers via phone as needed.Β 
  • Support the team in meeting and exceeding Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) sales goals.Β 

Tasting Room OperationsΒ 

  • Opening and closing procedures, stocking wine and retail products, and assisting with the proper display and pricing of retail items.Β 
  • Responsibly pour selected wines for visitors according to tasting room guidelines and regulations.Β 
  • Handle POS transactions accurately.Β 
  • Assist customers to their vehicles with large purchases.Β 
  • Clean the tasting room and polish glassware used in the tasting room.Β 
  • Ensure wine shipments are properly packaged and sent according to regulations and procedures.Β 
  • Recognize signs that a guest should not be served alcohol and take appropriate action.Β 

Event SupportΒ 

  • Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of onsite and offsite winery events.Β 
  • Available to work special winery events on weekends and evenings.Β 

General DutiesΒ 

  • Maintain a professional and polished appearance at all times.Β 
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding federal and state shipping compliance.Β 
  • Continuously develop knowledge of the wines and winemaking practices to educate guests effectively.Β 
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.Β

Our Executive Chef takes full advantage of the finest local, organic, and sustainably raised ingredients. Our culinary garden allows us to pick the freshest ingredients right on our grounds, and we craft our own breads, pastries, and charcuteries. What we don’t make or grow onsite, we try to source within a 150-mile radius of the Resort for the ultimate in flavor and freshness.
