POSITION SUMMARY


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tasting Room Operations, the Tasting Room Manager is responsible for the day-to-day front-of-house operations of the Tasting Room. This role is responsible for the image of the winery to retail, club, trade and industry guests, and for delivering an exceptional hospitality experience for all who visit. The Tasting Room Manager will be accountable for the fiscal budget and department profitability, providing leadership and coaching for the team to achieve all targets.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Grow and lead a dynamic team that embodies the culture of Owen Roe Winery and provides an exemplary hospitality experience for each and every guest.

  • Create, implement and maintain strategies to meet or exceed financial goals, acting proactively to achieve budgeted revenue and maintain or decrease operating expenses to ultimately achieve EBITA targets.

  • Ensure proper team scheduling, adhering to break and lunch policies, to prevent overtime and/or meal penalties.

  • Oversee and approve team payroll bi-weekly.

  • Upkeep record of staff Responsible Hospitality and Food Handler certifications

  • Create, implement and maintain outreach programs.

  • Coordinate trade tastings and support Wholesale Team as needed.

  • Manage all tasting room collateral, including accurate tasting menus, order forms, data capture cards, or promotional materials.

  • Monitor inventory levels of wine and merchandise on-site – order and transfer as needed.

  • Communicate any HR issues to your supervisor and/or HR as soon as possible.

  • Persistently examine the tasting room and grounds to maintain the highest caliber of cleanliness and safety. Report any issues that you cannot address to your supervisor as soon as possible.

  • Maintain the highest level of customer service with timely responses to all emails, phone calls, text messages and voicemails.

  • Support the wine club team as needed, creating a culture within the team that all channels support one another

  • Conduct monthly inventory counts as directed by your supervisor.

  • Conduct monthly safety meetings.

  • When needed, greet and host guests, leading by example to set the standard for service, sales and wine club conversion.

  • Develop new experiences with a high ROI to attract new consumers or retain current ones.

  • Plan and execute winery events as needed.

  • Represent winery at outside functions as needed.

  • Review daily reservations and enter into POS prior to guest arrival.

  • Train team to assign all orders to a guest.

  • Train team on daily metrics (customer counts, AOV, conversion, etc.) and track against plan

  • Ensure cash handling procedures are followed.

  • Prepare and manage food for wine pairings.

  • Manage food ordering processes.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by upper management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams, and the ability to quickly learn new POS and back-office systems.

  • Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • 3+ years’ experience with management, at least 1+ years in a winery setting.

  • Knowledge and passion for wine and wine production

  • Experience with managing budgets and achieving financial targets.

  • Experience planning and successfully executing special events.




PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly.


  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.

  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.


SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays

SALARY RANGE: $65 -75K DOE


Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location within the US. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, internal equity and alignment with market data.
